Some Thoughts About God, The Father

J.M.J.

Please consider Mr. Satan, the Fallen Angel, who is safely in Eternity doing what God the Father may ask of Him.  Please consider this story regarding Mr. Satan and the illegal drugs which may come through the Port of San Francisco.**  It is said that when a ship carrying illegal drugs comes into the Port, the call goes out for the shipment to be “blessed” by Mr. Satan.  In particular there is said to be a person living in the “big house on the Hill” in San Francisco who gives this blessing.

And so at midnight the “priest” comes, all dressed in black, representing Mr. Satan, and does his “thing”:  Prayers, blessings, songs, all distorted (opposite) versions of Christian songs and thinking.  And after a couple of hours he ends his “blessing,” gets paid and goes home.

The next morning, some Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc. are selling their items and they knock on the front door of the house on the hill.  After a couple of minutes, the door opens and there stands the man from the night before, looking as though he had just wakened, and was perhaps a bit hung over, with a stubbly beard, and wearing a tee shirt and wrinkled slacks.  This is the “priest” of the night before.

**I heard this story from someone who was once very active (in business, socially, etc.) in the San Francisco area, who later went on to fame and fortune in a religious way and then succumbed to fame and fortune.  And although this person is still living, his whereabouts and his life are not found anywhere.

The thing is as much as we cannot ever know God, the Father, we do not understand God, the Father as we may understand Him.  The thing is I was thinking of Jesus the other day and at the same time “Toys R Us” came to mind for some unknown reason.  I looked up and in my mind saw Jesus and His Father and thought they are “We R Us.”  Jesus looked at His Father Who was looking at Him, perhaps questioning whether that was an all right way to think of Them.  Jesus grinned at His Father and said “Yes.”

The thing is God, the Father, although He knows everything about human beings, will check with His Son, Jesus for whatever reason on the ways of the human beings on the earth.

The thing is Jesus was a human being.  And the thing is that from the time God created Adam and Eve, He gave each human being a soul.  And it doesn’t matter how many human beings God has created, each human being still has his or her own individual soul.  The thing is that because God is the only God – all power and might, a Solo Act, has no equal – Who lives in Eternity and Who has never been a human being, He will not judge other human beings.  The thing is if God were to judge us, He would have to judge us as we have used our power and might, etc.  Of which we have none.

The thing is God plays on a level playing field – one human being to another.  And to judge His human being souls, He needed a human being.  The thing is He needed a human being who knew Him, would work with Him, see things His way and do as He asked.  And so, His Son, Jesus, using His own free will and understanding, volunteered to become a human being and to do as His Father asked of Him.  The thing is I have heard God say (and He does speak to us), that He couldn’t ask His Son to judge human beings if He didn’t know what it was like to be a human being.

The thing is we think as human beings.  And then there are the angels who are more intelligent than we are.  And then there is Jesus, Who has His own way of thinking.  The thing is it can be difficult at times to understand the relationship between God, Jesus and human beings.  And if you want to know why you are here on this His good earth, you must ask your father and your mother, for it is they who worked with God, the Father to bring you here.

God, the Father’s Favorite Word – “Poor”

Please consider the way God, the Father sees the birth of His Son, Jesus, at Christmas.

The thing is God, the Father is the sort of man human beings tend to look at with a question mark in their eyes:  He’s quiet, unassuming.  He comes to those human beings whom He knows will welcome Him (and if they turn out to be not welcoming, He leaves).  He’s very thoughtful of others.  He’s very likable in His own way and He does have a good sense of humor.  He doesn’t believe in having a lot of beautiful, expensive clothes as might befit a King.  The crown He wears is of the best quality (Eternity has no other), but it’s never overdone or used in a “Look what I’ve got and you don’t and you can’t have it – ever!” sort of way.  He’s just the sort of person human beings dislike mightily.

The thing is we are in God’s world.  Everything is His, made from His own hands.  And in His quiet way, He uses His world to express His happiness, His joy, His pride in the birth of His Son, like every Father.

God used His stars to guide the Three Kings to the Little Town of Bethlehem.  The thing is that although God, the Father could have afforded any amount of money to have His Son, Jesus, born in the most expensive hotel in Jerusalem, He said, “No, the manger in the cave is where I would rather you be born, Son.”  And so it came to pass.

I know that God hears every word, prayer, plea and petition we may send to Him. And I pray that if your prayers, pleas and petitions be in accord with His will and for the salvation of your soul, that He may grant what you may ask of Him. And may He use all for His good, for His is the greater good.

Hallowed be Thy Name (From the Our Father Prayer)

On November 24, 1843, Our Lord spoke the following words to the French Carmelite nun, Sister Marie de Saint-Pierre:  “The earth is covered with crimes.  The violation of the first three Commandments of God has irritated My Father.  The Holy Name of God blasphemed, and the Holy Day of the Lord profaned, fills up the measure in iniquities.  These sins have risen unto the Throne of God and provoked his wrath which will soon burst forth if His justice be not appeased.  At no time have these crimes reached such a pitch.”

Consider:  How often have we sworn “God damn it!”

Replace the name of God with your father’s name – Joe, Jim, etc.

“Joe damn it!”  “Jim damn it!”

Why would we ask God to damn His own work of creation or anyone or anything in it, for we are in the physical world which He made, not He in our world.  If you are really so angry at being in this His world, then you must ask your mother and your father why you are here.  God created you because they asked of Him.  And each human being has only one mother and one father, for it takes only one man human being and one woman human being to create one new human being.

On March 16, 1844, Our Lord, Jesus, told Sister Marie de St. Pierre, “Oh if you only knew what great merit you acquire by saying even once, ‘Admirable is the Name of God,’ in the spirit of reparation of blasphemy.”  (Say often.)

Consider the Third Commandment:  “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.”

I believe in God, The Father Almighty – From the Apostles’ Creed

Who is God, the human being, Who stays in the background?

Consider:  A mystery is a truth which we cannot fully understand and God is a mystery Whom we cannot fully understand.

The following quotation is taken from the website [PDF] St. Faustina Kowalska Diary : St. Faustina Kowalska : Free Download …, DIARY Of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, Divine Mercy in My Soul, Marian Press, Stockbridge, MA 01263, 2005, page 32.  Saint Faustina wrote:

“30 + On one occasion I was reflecting on the Holy Trinity, on the essence of God. I absolutely wanted to know and fathom who God is. …..In an instant my spirit was caught up into what seemed to be the next world. I saw an inaccessible light, and in this light what appeared like three sources of light which I could not understand. And out of that light came words in the form of lightning which encircled heaven and earth. Not understanding anything, I was very sad.  Suddenly, from this sea of inaccessible light came our dearly beloved Savior, unutterably beautiful with His shining Wounds.  And from this light came a voice which said, Who God is in His Essence, no one will fathom, neither the mind of Angels nor of man.  Jesus said to me, Get to know God by contemplating His attributes.  A moment later, He traced the sign of the cross with his hand and vanished.”

God, The Father and The Birth of His Son, Jesus

“This is how Jesus Christ came to be born.  His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; [footnote omitted] but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.  •Her husband Joseph, being a man of honour and wanting to spare her publicity, decided to divorce her informally.  •He had made up his mind to do this when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit.  •She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save [footnote omitted] his people from their sins.’  . . .  •When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do; he took his wife to his home •and, though he had not had intercourse with her, she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.”  Matthew 1:18-21, 24-251

“In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.”  Luke 1:26-271

Both of these gospels state that Mary was “betrothed” to Joseph, which is often interpreted to mean that they were not married before Mary conceived the child Jesus.  The thing is God gave Moses the Ten Commandments and commanded:  “You shall not commit adultery.”  Exodus 20:141

The thing is, would God break His own commandment and have His own Son, Jesus, born out of wedlock?  I think not.

Please consider that Moses asked God the Father how we can live with one another on this His good earth.  God gladly accommodated Moses by giving Him the Ten Commandments.  God the Father, because He is Power and Might, does not need to say or do anything twice.  He knows what is needed and gets it right the first time.  God has never once changed His Commandments and Jesus, His Son, affirmed them, and tightened them up a bit while He was here on the earth.  For example, adultery.

Please consider how human beings interpret the words of the Bible.  If a human being wants to achieve a certain point of view with other human beings, the word “betrothed” is taken in the modern sense to mean that a man and a woman are engaged to be married and that Mary and Joseph were living with each other without the benefit of marriage (also known by some human beings as “living in sin”) and that Mary had a child out of wedlock.  How many mothers and fathers have heard this argument from their child when the child wants to live with a man or a woman before marriage?

The thing is what is sin?  Sin is an offense against God.  And how do we offend God?  By breaking His Ten Commandments.  Therefore a sinner is one who has broken God’s Ten Commandments.

God, the Father and How He Sees Human Beings

Please consider how human beings categorize other human beings.  For example, drug addicts, convicts, ex-convicts, parents, married, single, legitimate, illegitimate, bastards.  Please note that God the Father does not do “illegitimate” or “bastards.”  He can only create good, whole human beings. Human beings use these categories to set human beings apart from each other for whatever reason.

Please consider the word “Racism.”  The thing is there is no such thing as racial anything in Eternity where God the Father lives.  Only human beings on the earth know of such a thing as “racism,” however you may understand the word “racism.”

Please consider God the Father considering the following scenarios.

“I saw Cain’s descendants becoming more and more godless and sensual.  . . . Their children were very large.  They possessed a quickness, an aptitude for everything, . . .  And so arose on this mountain and spread far around, a wicked race which by violence and seduction sought to entangle Seth’s posterity likewise in their own corrupt ways.  Then God declared to Noe His intention to send the Deluge.  During the building of the ark, Noe had to suffer terribly from those people.”

“I have seen many things connected with the race of giants.  . . .  These people could form all kinds of images out of stone and metal; but of the knowledge of God they had no longer a trace.  They sought their gods in the creatures around them.  I have seen them scratch up a stone, form it into an extravagant image, and then adore it.  They worshipped also a frightful animal and all kinds of ignoble things.  . . .  The women invented music.  I saw them going around among the better tribes trying to seduce them to their own abominations.”

“Cham’s descendants likewise had similar relations with the evil spirits after the Deluge, and from such connection sprang so many . . . mighty ones of the world, so many great, wild daring men.”**

God the Father is thinking in terms of Himself, just as human beings think in terms of their selves.  And so God may think, “All right, you don’t want to be bothered by Me.  That’s not an acceptable idea.  It won’t work.”

Please consider the results of God’s marking the skins of Cain’s descendants, not in any order of occurrence.  The slave trade between the colonies and the New World.  The Civil War in the United States (1861 to 1865 ).  Segregation in the United States.  Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech.  The riots in Newark, New Jersey and Los Angeles, California among other places where cities were destroyed.  And abortion (which is the murder of a human being) which targets African-American women.  And the list goes on.

God, the Father and The “Modern Day” Roman Catholic Church Which He and His Son Founded

Please consider that the church which Jesus, the human being, Son of Man, Son of God, established when He was on the earth is one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

Consider the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).  Its website notes that the USCCB “. . . is organized as a corporation in the District of Columbia.”  Even if Jesus had established His Church as a corporation, God, the Father would be the Chairman of the Board, President, CEO and hold like titles, and Jesus, His Son, would be Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, God’s Mouthpiece, Moutpiece and hold like titles.  The “The Buck Stops Here” sign is on God, the Father’s desk.

Consider the USCCB’s reasons for being in existence.  The USCCB’s “purposes under civil law are:  ‘To unify, coordinate, encourage, promote and carry on Catholic activities in the United States;’” etc.  Just what law applies to whom:  God’s Law, Canon Law or civil law?

Jesus said, “‘Give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar – and to God what belongs to God’.”  (Mark 12:17)*  The thing is because we are in God’s world, everything is God’s, including Mr. Caesar and all of his belongings.
