Lighthouse: Three Views of
God, the Father
Please consider the above photo of a
French lighthouse. And please consider
how we may see God, the Father in this photo.
The thing is when we see a photo of a miniscule lighthouse with a
massive wave about to descend on it, the image of an angry God about to wipe
out human beings and their creations comes to mind. A popular view of God is as an Angry
Man.
Please consider the idea that God, the
Father is trying to get our attention.
He is showing His power and might with the gigantic wave that He has
raised from the ocean. To be sure, the
wave will crash down on the little lighthouse.
The thing is God will not destroy this lighthouse, for it has been made
by man from the stones and mortar of His good earth. And made to withstand the strongest winds and
storms so that all those human beings, seafarers, sailors, mariners might
travel safely in this place using the beacon from the lighthouse as a
guide. Human beings helping other human
beings. God did not destroy the
lighthouse but lets it stand as a light that shines forth in the darkness to
light the way home to safe haven, safe port.
Please consider God, the Father and the
little lighthouse. One day God was
taking a bath in His bathtub. And God is
very strong and powerful. And He was
having such a good time that He didn’t notice that His hand made a great big
wave. And He suddenly realized that the
wave would knock over the little lighthouse.
But He didn’t want that little lighthouse to be knocked over. So He held on tight to it while the wave
splashed over it. And He hoped that
whoever cleaned up for Him wouldn’t be too upset by the mess His splash had
made. Amen
Father Mariner, please guide us with
Your Light safely home to Your Heaven.
Please note: The above photo of the Lighthouse was found on the Internet. It is located off the coast of France and may be the lighthouse that is called "La Jument" but the name cannot be confirmed. For some reason this particular photo cannot be found on the Internet.
